Welcome To Hooton Tutors
Family Team of Tutors in Wirral
We are a small family team of private tutors in Wirral. Founded in 2005, we provide an education service which supports learners and their families.
Each member of our team is fully qualified to honours degree level and beyond. Between us we have decades of successful teaching in the classroom and school headships. For two decades we have been trusted private tutors with a sound reputation throughout Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales for supporting and inspiring students. We are members of The Tutors’ Association.
Most of the students we teach come to us by recommendation or are following in older siblings’ footsteps with Hooton Tutors.
Supporting Students in Wirral
Our aim is to instil in each of our students a love of learning.
Although each subject has its own specific skills and knowledge, we recognise that an essential aspect of learning is each student’s confidence in their own abilities and a positive attitude towards learning in general.
As private tutors in Wirral & Cheshire, each of these is an important factor throughout the tuition we give.

Assessments
Central to all our teaching is ongoing assessment. A good teacher recognises that ‘one size does not fit all’. We always assess a student’s general ability and academic achievements before commencing tuition, as each child will have their own individual learning needs. This gives us the information we need to plan an individual learning programme. It also allows parents to see what their child’s achievements are.
Throughout tuition we assess on a regular basis so that we can inform families of their child’s progress with us and identify what the next learning steps should be.
We also offer ‘stand-alone’ assessments for families who are not seeking tuition but wish to know how their children are doing at school.
Specialising in Mathematics
Hooton Tutors are always in demand, mostly for Mathematics. For some years now we have found that many young people struggle with Maths and lack confidence in themselves as mathematicians.
Since the impact of Covid lockdown, we have been giving help for even the basics in Maths as general computation skills and Mathematical topics have been missed.
We are able to assess individual Mathematical achievements and understanding, plan individual learning programmes to suit all learners and guide our students through the subject, step by step to achieve confidence, understanding and success.
Whether a pupil is moving from Key Stage One to Key Stage Two, planning to sit the 11 Plus, preparing for Secondary school or working towards GCSE or A Level exams, we can help them to acquire confidence in themselves and a love of Mathematics.
Individual Learning
Programmes in Wirral
Each of our students learning needs will be different. Whether working towards 11 plus, GCSE or A Level exams each child will have their own preferred learning styles and different strengths and weaknesses. Once we have assessed a student we can plan a learning programme which suits their individual needs. As we continually assess and monitor progress we are able to adapt our teaching to ensure we are on track for success.
